COMPILATION OF CHINESE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL GUIDELINES FOR OPERATIONS ABROAD
This Compilation is a selective rather than exhaustive collection of Chinese environmental and social guidelines related to the sectors in which the presence of Chinese investors and companies in Latin America and the Caribbean is more frequent. Below you can find the three sections that make up this Compilation and a last section with Annexes. SECTION 1: CHINESE GUIDELINES FOR COMPANIES AND INVESTMENTS
This section contains eight guidelines that apply to Chinese companies with shareholding from the Chinese state that develop projects outside of China. There is also a guideline specifically focused on Chinese private companies.
• Guiding Opinions of the Ministry of Commerce and 19 other Departments on the Promotion of High-Quality Development of Contracted Projects Abroad (Translated to English by CLASII)
SECTION 2: CHINESE GUIDELINES FOR FINANCIERS
This section contains nine guidelines targeting Chinese commercial and policy banks, and Chinese companies acting as investors in projects and other financial activities outside China.
• Standardization of Banking Services Institutions to “Go Outside” and Strengthen Orientation in Risk Prevention and Control (Translated to English by CLASII and validated by Greenovation Hub)
SECTION 3: CHINESE SECTORAL GUIDELINES
This section contains seven guidelines focused on projects in the agriculture, natural rubber, infrastructure, mining, forestry and silviculture sectors.
This last section provides relevant information on government institutions involved in the issuance of Chinese guidelines, on international environmental and social commitments backed by China, among others that allow a broader view of the context of Chinese investments abroad.
